GAME Denies Shifting to Digital-Only Model Amid Speculation

UK retailer GAME appears to be shifting towards a digital-only future. A recent report indicates that the well-known retail chain will cease in-store physical games and gaming hardware sales. The information from Gfinity Esports mentions that physical media will still be available, but customers will have to place a pre-order. It's currently uncertain whether midnight console launches will continue at GAME. In recent years, GAME has pivoted more towards physical sales, but not necessarily of games. Instead, the stores are filled with Funko Pops, collectibles, board games, toys, and other items, leaving actual games seeming secondary. GAME also appears to be struggling in the pre-owned market, where another UK retailer, CeX, is outperforming it. The future of GAME in the modern gaming landscape remains to be seen. UPDATE: GAME has since responded to the report via Eurogamer, denying the claims and affirming its continued support for the physical gaming market. The company asserts it still offers a wide range of physical games, hardware, software, accessories, and digital gift cards in stores and online.
